My name is Phyu Hnin Lwin. I'm a third-year Computer Science student at Cal Poly Pomona, graduating in Spring 2026. I'm passionate about building thoughtful, impactful technology and enjoy working across full-stack development, machine learning, and interactive software.
As a first-generation student from Myanmar, Iโm driven to create inclusive tools that support education and opportunity. I value collaboration, continuous learning, and using tech to make a meaningful difference.
2024 โ 2026
Computer Science, Bachelor of Science.
2022 โ 2024
Engineering & Technology, Associate of Arts.
I supported the universityโs web development efforts by maintaining and improving campus websites to enhance usability and accessibility. I resolved hundreds of technical issues, collaborated with the IT team, and helped ensure that digital content remained accurate, responsive, and aligned with institutional goals.
As part of a software development team, I contributed to building a mobile app designed for communication between students and faculty. I helped developed core features using modern frameworks, and collaborated on intuitive UI/UX design to make the app more accessible and user-friendly.

A real-time facial emotion recognition web application powered by an ONNX model and FastAPI backend. Detect emotions such as happy, sad, angry, and more using your webcam or by uploading an image.
A custom mood recognition system using the YOLOv8 object detection framework to classify facial expressions into seven emotional states: Surprised, Fear, Disgust, Smug, Sad, Angry, and Neutral.
A simple Go program designed to validate credit card numbers using the Luhn algorithm. It checks whether a given card number is valid based on the algorithm and also identifies common card types.
An interactive spinning wheel built with React, HTML, JSX, and CSS. Let users enter their own items, pick custom colors, and spin the wheel to randomly.
Developed a VR escape-room-style puzzle game teaching circuit concepts using Unity (2022.3.50f1) and Meta Quest. Features interactive logic gate, resistance, and voltage-based challenges.
Built a chess application with move suggestions using machine learning. Tools: python-chess, PyTorch, TQDM. CLI-based UI with logic built around trained data and evaluation.
Created a CustomTkinter desktop interface for Gemini API with Alexa voice input. Features real-time voice/text input, API integration, and GUI handling in Python.
A personal ML repo including digit recognition, email spam filter, movie recommender, image classifier & RPS predictor. Tools: Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Faiss, OpenCV.
Back in college, hackathons were my weekend adrenaline rush โ a mix of ideas, late-night debugging, and way too much coffee. Here's a glimpse into some of those wild sprints from concept to prototype. For more projects, check out my DevPost portfolio here.
